Kevin Ross

Entrepreneur, Computer Software

Hi, I'm Kevin Ross. I'm a tech entrepreneur that focuses on SaaS products for underserved markets.

Kevin Ross's Bio:

I'm an entrepreneur with a passion for bootstrapping, helping technology ideas get off the ground and building profitable, sustainable companies that make a difference. In 2006, I founded Metova with $8,000 charged to a credit card, and grew the company to 30+ employees who assist with all aspects of mobile application development for smartphone and tablet platforms. Metova was named an Inc. 500 company in 2011 and an Inc. 5000 company in 2012. In August 2012, I sold a majority position in Metova to new investors. At the end of 2012, I left the Metova's day-to-day operations and exited the business in early 2013. In April 2013, I formed AlienFast as an umbrella under which knowledge and technology will be shared amongst a network of SaaS companies. We will continue to refine a formula and methodology that allows for many, not only few, to become successful. This means material equity and profit sharing for every participant...the last place they will ever want or need to spend time working. I have more than 15 years experience in the software industry, working in software development management positions for education, healthcare, logistics, financial and supply chain companies, I have specialized in revamping failing development operations by analyzing and implementing the human, technology and process changes necessary to be successful. I am a member of the Entrepreneurs' Organization Nashville. I have mentored at the Jumpstart Foundry in Nashville, I actively mentor several other companies, and am actively seeking additional board positions. I occasionally speak to groups about entrepreneurship and technology.

Kevin Ross's Experience:

  • Founder and Advisor at Metova, Inc.

At the end of 2012, I left the Metova's day-to-day operations to move towards helping local entrepreneurs build profitable, sustainable companies that make a difference. For this period, I remained on Metova's Board of Directors and maintained an advisory role within the firm.

  • Mentor at Jumpstart Foundry

I Advised the fantastic team at Contigo Financial which graduated into greater involvement with the company.

  • Founder and President at Metova, Inc.

Founder and President of a custom mobile application development company that targets smartphone and tablet platforms. Bootstrapped Metova with $8,000, and grew the company with no venture capital. Doubled revenue every year, continuing for 4 years entering 2010. Metova continues its pattern of highly profitable growth now with more than 30 employees and revenues in the millions, all while maintaining a culture of excellence and a sustainable, long-term environment for employees. We accomplished all of this during the economic recession, without venture capital and without bank funding, shaping us into a lean and sustainable company. Metova was named an Inc. 500 company in 2011 and an Inc. 5000 company in 2012.

  • Founder and CEO, Advisor and Early Stage Investor at AlienFast

AlienFast is an early stage accelerator/incubator that seeks to not only build, but operate net income technology businesses in Franklin, Tennessee. In April 2013, AlienFast was formed as an umbrella under which knowledge and technology will be shared amongst a network of companies. We will continue to refine a formula and methodology that allows for many, not only few, to become successful. This means material equity and profit sharing for every participant...the last place they will ever want or need to spend time working. As part of this work, I advise a few external companies and invest in fewer. I enjoy advising, helping others build companies that survive, sustain, and profit, and building cultures that provide for individual autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Funding status: All current funds have been placed. If you are an Angel or VC looking to connect with B2C startups, please contact me, I have talked several Nashville/Franklin area startups that would be interested in connecting. Our fund was simply too small to meet the needs of some of these startups.
